The second day of the WSOP Event #6 was spent in searching for six finalists. 36 players started the day, among them for example Chris Ferguson and Tom “durrrr” Dwan. However, the duo did not make it to the final.
“Neil Channing is chasing for the first bracelet of his career.”
From Dwan’s table Nicolas Levi was the one who went to the final. Dwan got his own chips to the middle already preflop, in good standings against Blair Hinkle. Dwan had KK, Hinke TT. However, the river was not favorable to Dwan as the other one of the tens that were left in the rack was turned out.
At five tables of six the finalists were found out quite quickly, but at the last table the crucial phase stretched into marathon-like session. Joseph Elpayaa and Cary Katz battled in heads-up even for five hours. In the decisive deal between these two Elpayaa paid from the button and Katz checked out.
As the flop was Qs-7s-6d, the duo raised the chips to the middle. Elpayaa’s 7d-6h hit strongly on the flop, and Katz’s top pair Qd-8c did not come over anymore.
The list of the finalists looks like this:
| 1 | Stuart Rutter | 900,000 |
| 2 | Neil Channing | 900,000 |
| 3 | Nicolas Levi | 900,000 |
| 4 | Brent Hanks | 900,000 |
| 5 | Joshua Tieman | 900,000 |
| 6 | Joseph Elpayaa | 900,000 |
