Betfair will shake the French dust from its feet

Betfair has decided to withdraw from the French market after the new online gambling law in France has come into force.

Betfair will stop taking bets from French customers, and at present the company is considering to apply for a new license for the French market. Betfair’s Tim Phillips told that the company is keeping an eye on the situation in France and simultaneously researching the possibilities for operating within the new licensing system.
This change in the French law has been criticized a lot, because in reality it doesn’t even open the monopoly to open competition but the sheer licensing system makes it difficult for all new actors to achieve any foothold on the market. The new law will be so to speak under observation the next 1,5 years. After this “probation” has expired, the functionality of the law will be re-assessed and the possible changes will be done to it.
Luckily there are many different nationalities on the site, when gambling sector entrepreneurs keep regularly transferring themselves to the poker sector.
