This summer’s World Series of Poker will also present a specific Tournament of Champions invitation event. The most voted candidates will get a place in this invitation tournament along with ex-champions.

“Ivey – Champion of Champions?”
Harrah’s officials revealed in Tuesday’s telco that so far Phil Ivey had collected most votes. Already 300 000 votes have been registered in the poll which will be open until the 15th of June. The invitation tournament will begin on June 27th - and from the ex-champions Annie Duke, Mike Matusow and Mike Sexton as well as the titleholders of WSOP and WSOPE Main Event Joe Cada and Barry Shulman have already secured themselves a place in the tournament.
Ivey, who is generally considered as the best player in the world, showed last summer that he’s also an excellent tournament player. Ivey returned from WSOP with two bracelets: the first came from $2,500 Deuce to Seven Draw Lowball ($96k) and the other from Omaha/Seven-Card Stud High-Low ($220k). Even the third bracelet was near as Ivey came seventh in the Main Event ($1,4 millions). Altogether he has seven WSOP bracelets in his prize collections.
