The world record tournament had a buy-in of only $11 so the first prize of $30k was a significant reward for winner’s efforts in the tournament. Eventually player called “Stan34powa” emerged victorious and $30k richer. His nickname probably will also be inducted in the Guinness Record books, at least until PokerStars attempts to break the record again.

The world record attempt generated so much traffic on PokerStars that at the same time PokerStars also broke the record for the most players to simultaneously play poker online. New record were set to 250,500 players. Formed record was 213,000, also set by PokerStars on November 30th of this year.

PokerStars had added more money to regular major Sunday tournaments to boost the traffic in world record weekend. The guarantee of Sunday Million was lifted to $2.5 million compared to normal $1.5M. Record breaking 16,260 players entered the tournament bringing together a $3,252,000 prize pool. Swedish “lp_Saki Saki” took home a stunning first prize $331,378.

Also the Sunday Warm-Up eclipsed its largest ever number of players this weekend, when the tournament atracted a total number of 5,836 players playing for a $1,167,200 prize pool. Player called “Hr_Herman” collected the first prize of $147,067 in this tournament.

It is fair to say that the whole weeked was a great success for PokerStars. All major tournaments broke their previous record marks in players entered and the actual Guinness World Record tournament atracted full field to compete for the prize and glory. I’m sure that PokerStars will go for new world record sooner than later after such great success.
