The shooting of High Stakes Poker season five is going on right now and now GSN has revealed when the show will be aired. The debut show of the upcoming season will be aired in the primetime 9:00pm ET slot on Sunday, 1st of March.
The Golden Nugget Casino was also the venue for the first season of High Stakes Poker, so the show have returned to home after stints at Palms and South Point casinos. The minimum buy-in of the show has also lifted to $200k from previous $100k.

Three different sets of players have played during the shooting. On friday, players like Tom “durrrr” Dwan and living legend Doyle Brunson gathered around the table. The whole line-up of the show was reported earlier by High Stakes News.
On Saturday, one player who was included in filming was Antonio “The Magician” Esfandiari. Esfandiari revealed to Poker News Daily how he went through a unique preparation leading up to the show:
“I feel great. I haven’t gone out the entire week. I woke up early this morning and meditated. I don’t even know how to meditate, but I tried it. Usually, I don’t care and just won’t go out. This week, it was a little different.” Esfandiari revealed and continued: “It’s the greatest poker show since poker got televised. I’ve played reasonably well in all of the previous seasons. During Season I, I got unlucky, but that’s poker. In other seasons, I did well.”
All three days of shooting will be compressed to 13 episodes. This year there will not be any super high stakes game like last year, when the buy-in was upped to half a million for the last part of the season. The stakes were clearly too high for most of the players and that made the game too tight and not as enjoyable to watch as the smaller game. We’ll see if $200k will good be a buy-in or will it be too much for some of the players.
The season five of High Stakes Poker will be narrated by familiar duo A.J. Benza and Gabe Kaplan, arguably the best poker commentary pair out there.
