Daniel Negreanu again in a final table!

Negreanu played the day 1 with a terrific hangover, but still managed to build his starting stack of 15k to over 56k. He didn’t pay much attention to actual tournament and was texting so much with blackberry that his battery died by the end of the night.

The second day went much better and Daniel is really ecxited explaining how well the small ball strategy works. He says that early in the tournament he always makes only small bets preflop, mini-bets or little more, and he never re-raises preflop, not even with AA, KK or AK. When the tournament goes further and the antes comes in to play, Daniel starts to make bigger bets.
Ok, so it is quite obvious that his strategy works if you look the results of Negreanu this year. He cashed five times at the WSOP this year, including a bracelet. He followed that cashing three times at the WSOPE including a final table appearance in the main event.
Negreanu will start the final table of the B.C. Poker Championship with a second biggest chip stack. With a win Daniel would take another great leap in his conquest of dethroning Jamie Gold at the top of the all time tournament winnings list. If he keeps playing like this in the future, it will not take him long to get past Gold.
It is also quite evident that Negreanu prefers Canadian to American, as he keeps telling how great the Canadian staff are and how awful the staff at Foxwoods were. Biased view or what? More thoughts and small ball strategies can be found from the Daniel’s blog.
