The Main Event of WSOP was the longest WSOP Main Event ever, mostly due to the long break between the actual series on the summer and the final table. In the end, another WSOP record was broken, when young Dane, Peter Eastgate, took home the tournament and the first prize of $9,152,416!

Eastgate became a youngest player ever to win the Main Event of WSOP, breaking the old record previously held by 11-times bracelet winner, “The Poker Brat” Phil Hellmuth, by two years.
It took 104 hands to find out the winner between Eastgate and his Russian rival Ivan Demidov. Eastgate started the heads-up as a chip leader, but winning the duel was anything but easy for the Dane. Demidov proved to be a great opponent and someone that we will for sure hear more in the future! The second place finish also earned him a nice paycheck worth of $5,809,595.
Despite the loss, Demidov has been doing very well this year when it comes to Main Events of World Poker Series, as he was also in the final table of the WSOPE this year, where he finished third. That is quite a feat and I doubt anybody will repeat it anytime soon.
Eastgate, who is sponsored by PokerStars, will for sure join the ranks of the other WSOP Main Event winners Chris Moneymaker, Grer Raymer and Joe Hachem in the Team PokerStars. It is most likely that also the runner-up Demidov will be joining as a official member of the team, as he also is sponsored by PokerStars.
Here is the final results of the final table:
1. Peter Eastgate $ 9,152,416
2. Ivan Demidov $ 5,809,595
3. Dennis Phillips $ 4,517,773
4. Ylon Schwartz $ 3,774,974
5. Scott Montgomery $ 3,096,768
6. Darus Suharto $ 2,418,562
7. David Rheem $ 1,772,650
8. Kelly Kim $ 1,288,217
9. Craig Marquis $ 900,670
