The actor’s lesson…
It’s day 1B of the WSOP main event in 2006. Amongst all the Hollywood stars is playing Hank Azaria, famous for voicing a lot of characters in the Simpsons. He certainly proved to us all that he wasn’t the average celebrity player.
He was up against Pete Giordano preflop, faced with a massive re-raise all-in by his opponent. Hank held cowboys (pocket kings). Assessing the situation he asks his opponent: “Do you really have the aces??”, “I don’t know, I don’t remember”, replies Pete. Azaria makes the most of the cameras around the table and shows them all he folded the cowboys, his opponent then revealed his pocket rockets (pair of Aces). Only Phil Hellmuth can make such laydowns…..
The sixth sense of Daniel Negreanu…
The televised table of the first days of the 2005 WSOP reunited two masters of poker: Daniel Negreanu and Sam Farha. They would meet in one hand, where Daniel had the nut straight only to be rivered by his opponents flush. Daniel knows that he’s beat and makes a massive lay down.

With the blinds at 50/100 Daniel raises to 200 UTG with 89hearts, an amateur re-raises to 400 with AdJs and Sam Farha calls on the button with 92-spades. The flop comes 567 with two spades giving Daniel the nut straight, and Sam Farha a flush draw with a gutshot straight draw. Daniel and Harrison check and Sam fires out 1000 chips, called by both players. The turn card is the meaningless King of Hearts and Daniel fires out 2000 chips, called only by Sam Farha. The river card is the 5 of spades, and Daniel’s sixth sense tells him to slow down. Farha pushes his remaining chips into the pot and, after a long think, Daniel realises that he’s beat and folds turning over his cards. Sam Farha can’t believe that his opponent folded the straight, the table was in shock… and so were we…
