Daniel Negreanu chooses his Dream Team and wins at $200/400 Texas NL

Daniel Negreanu has been active at PokerStars, playing tournaments and the big cash games. This week we saw some nice sessions at the Texas no-limit tables with the blinds $200/400.

Negreanu ended up winning about $70.000 on Fridays session where he faces player like Matt “ADZ124″ Marafioti and purplEUROS who is pr1nnyraid from Full Tilt Poker.

WSOP Dream Team

Negreanu has chosen his Dream Team for this years WSOP and it includes the following players:

Daniel Negreanu - He is obviously picking himself! He feels especially strong at the limit games, especially in hi-lo games.

David Chiu - Coming off a big win Daniel sees a confident David Chiu who plays all the games well and will propably play most of the tournaments.

Ted Forrest - Daniel thinks that Ted is one of the best in the world - hopefully he’ll enter lots of tournaments.

John Hennigan - This pick was a bit more “dangerous” since he might not play all the games, but the good thing is that he, like Ted, is insanely good in the stud games.

Phil Ivey - Ivey may skip the tournaments for the juicy cash games, but Daniel thinks that it’s tough to leave him off the list since these events suit him so well.

Barry Greenstein - Daniel thinks that Barry will play all the events, and he plays all the games well.

Mike Matusow - Daniel can’t even believe that he chose The Muth, but he thinks the Mouth just might do well at the WSOP. Mike has a ton of heart and is decent in all the games and Daniel counts on that Mike is a better limit tournament player than he is a limit cash game player.

Allen Cunningham - Doesn’t have a weak game, lives in Las Vegas, and will likely play a lot of tournaments.

John Juanda - Negreanu shows his respect to Juanda by saying that he really is one of the absolute best tournament players in the world despite what his recent results may have shown.
Scotty Nguyen - Daniel puts Scotty into a similar category as Mike Matusow. As for heart, fewer players have more patience and determination when things are looking grim.

So Daniels list of 10 has a lot in common: they were all playing poker long before the internet boom, they all have shown their stregths in mixed cash games, and they are all very versatile.

No internet superstar on this list! Guys like David Benyamine, Eli Elezra, Patrick Antonius, and Doyle Brunson were also guys Daniel was thinking to put on the list, but the cash games often take them away from the tournaments.
